There’s nothing like warmer weather to get you in the mood to eat more fresh produce! When winter and fall come around, I just want to bundle up and eat stews and other hearty meals and drink warm, comforting drinks. It’s almost a relief to have a change-up in the weather because it gets me craving new flavors and lets me get more creative in the kitchen with the new seasonal ingredients becoming available again!
A few days ago, I was perusing my local grocery store and impulse bought a pineapple and a few mangoes on my way out. I’ve been on a big smoothie kick lately and wanted to change up my normal smoothie routine of strawberries and bananas. Tropical flavors always remind me of my childhood because, growing up, my entire extended family would pack up for a week or so every year in the summer and head over to Maui to stay at my grandparents’ timeshare. Amidst all the fun memories of splashing in the pool and beach, sliding down waterslides, and running around barefoot with all of my cousins, was the endless amount of fresh fruit we would eat. My Obachan (Japanese for grandma) seemed to always be slicing mangoes and pineapples for us to snack on when we were taking breaks back in our conjoined hotel rooms.
There is nothing as sweet and delicious as fruit from Hawaii, and I’m pretty sure it made up 90% of our diets during those vacations!
This recipe is my favorite smoothie bowl to date and combines all of my favorite tropical flavors with a variety of different toppings for an added crunch! It has the perfect amount of sweetness thanks to the fruit base as well as a bit of Whole Earth Sweetener Honey 50, which is made of a blend of honey and organic stevia and has 50% fewer calories than traditional honey per serving! It’s delicious, non-GMO, organic, gluten-free, and contains no preservatives. Whole Earth Sweetener makes sure to only use the highest quality ingredients so you don’t need to sacrifice health for deliciousness!
This smoothie bowl works perfectly as a tasty and refreshing breakfast or a healthy dessert that will satisfy any sweet tooth craving! I’ve been an ice-cream fiend lately, but since discovering how easy and mouthwatering this recipe is, it’s been easy to grab my blender and whip up a fresh bowl instead of reaching into the freezer!
