Looking back on my childhood, it’s easy for me to see how important meals were in bringing my family together to be the tight-knit group that we still are today. Friday nights at my obachan’s house were always reserved as a special time to look forward to throughout the week. There was always the anticipation of getting to see and play with all of my cousins and eat delicious homemade food while the parents chatted. While we’ve all grown up and are scattered with our new jobs and college, we all still make a point to reserve holidays for reconnecting together around the table for good food and even better conversations and laughs. Holidays are a time when we all pour into one house to enjoy the company of family and friends and detach from the busy world around us. It grounds us in the most perfect way and I’ve found that my most cherished memories happen when the table brings us together!
While our holiday meals follow a certain amount of unchanging tradition (turkey for Thanksgiving and prime rib for Christmas), one aspect where I love to stay creative and try something new and delicious is the drinks! There’s nothing like a fun and festive beverage to really get that good cheer rolling and make it feel like a celebration! This year, I decided to create a tasty twist on the usual hot drinks served by using Lipton Sweet Tea flavored iced tea as a base for this Sparkling Cranberry Mint Iced Tea recipe!
This recipe is so refreshing and goes perfectly with all the savory flavors that make up most holiday meals! It’s perfectly sweet with a little fizz and couldn’t be more simple to make for your next gathering! Simply add together ginger beer (nonalcoholic despite the name), cranberry cocktail juice, Lipton Sweet Tea flavored iced tea, fresh mint, and ice and you’re good to go and ready to serve up glasses to all your friends and family! I choose to make the glasses a little extra special by adding sugar to the rim (dip your glasses in the tea and then press the rim on a plate of sugar), which gives it a fun snow-like garnish!
