Have you ever seen a more beautiful sight? Oozing cheese. That perfect golden brown bread color that tells you everything will be alright in the world. Sausage!! Oh, and anything that can be dipped to make it even more delicious? Yes please.
Cue all the happy foodie dancing because this recipe is one of my all-time favorite recipes up on ye old blog. I mean, how can it not be when it involves the flavors of pizza wrapped snuggly and lovingly inside a flaky croissant?
As Kyle said so perfectly after eating his first (of three) of these Cheesy Pizza Croissant Dippers, “this recipe has maximal taste payoff for how easy it is”. In other words, this isn’t one of those recipes that takes hours to prepare to get a big yum factor. There’s no slaving away in a hot kitchen or chopping endless amounts of ingredients up. I’m talking, you could have these dippers out on the table in less than 30 minutes and the response you’ll get from everyone you serve it to will be on the same scale as the Thanksgiving dinner appreciation. If that doesn’t motivate you to pick up the ingredients to make these the next time you’re at the grocery store, I don’t know what will!
One of the crowning flavors that takes these dippers to the next level comes from Hillshire Farm Sausage, which brings an extra “oomph” when you take that first (and second… and third) bite. Sausage has always been one of my favorite add-ons to any pizza I order, so once the idea os combining pizza flavors + buttery croissants popped into my head, I knew that smoked sausage would have to make an appearance to help me fully realize what I was envisioning.
The smells alone that drifted upstairs were enough to bring down hungry mouths and my first batch was gone in under in 30 minutes. The rest of my housemates who didn’t get the chance to snag a bite shot me a few dirty looks after seeing the photos. Whoops
I picked up two packages of Hillshire Farm sausages at my local Kroger banner store and took advantage of the 2-for-$5-deal that is running till April 19th while supplies last. I already have plans for a cheesy pasta bake for the leftover sausage I have tonight and Kyle and I can’t wait to dig in! You can use this nifty Kroger store locator to find a store that carries Hillshire Farm sausages near you .
